Precious red-hot poker (also known as Kniphofia) nectar is concealed within the bright yellow to red flowers. The red-hot poker blossoms for just six weeks of the year.
The nectar is harvested by hand in the early hours of the morning by “milking” the flowers. Around 2,000 flowers are needed to produce one litre of nectar. The nectar is rich in fructose, amino acids and minerals.
